Strategy Defender of the Crown 1

The year is 1149. King Richard I (Richard the Lionheart) recently returned from the Third crusade. He granted wealth and lands to a number of knights who were crucial in his victories. Unfortunately, the king died shortly after. England is in need of a new ruler, as while rivaling factions battle one another for control, it is also under siege by the French.

The player takes on the role of a Saxon, who has been pushed forward by his knights as their leader. You must fend off attacks by the Normans, while securing the lands of England. Territory can be conquered through battle, or won in tournaments at times. When battling opponents, you will have to lay waste to their castles.
