George Stobbart is vacationing in Europe, travelling around the continent. While he is enjoying a coffee in Paris, the café he is at is bombed by a guy wearing a clown suit. George decides to investigate what happened, and in the process uncovers a conspiracy leading back to the ancient order of the Knights Templar.
You will travel through Europe and the Middle East, have to deal with gangsters, assassins, and nobility. Can you solve the clues left by the Templars, and perhaps win the heart of a charming reporter along the way?
Broken Sword is a traditional point-and-click adventure, where the cursor will change as you move it over the scenes. It can help you navigate, investigate, or perform actions.
Right-clicking on anything will describe whatever you are highlighting (if anything). Your inventory is on the upper part of the screen, and the lower section of the screen allows you to discuss objects, people or locations with other characters you are interacting with.
Both GOG and Steam have the Director's cut version, which features an additional story arc, and some revamped graphics. The version in this review shows the original version, which is included in the purchase of the Director's Cut.
As this is written, a modernized version of Broken Sword is in the making. It will be released under the name of "Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged". It seems to feature the same storyline as the original, but with modernized 4K graphics.
Despite my best efforts, I have not managed to find a PDF version of the booklet "Savage Warriors" written by Steve Jackson. However, I have a copy of the original booklet, and will try and scan it in so it can be added to the attachments.
