Action Arkanoid 1

The introduction of the game couldn't be shorter. It informs you that the mothership Arkanoid was destroyed by an enemy aircraft. The only survivor is spaceship Vaus, scrambling to make it to safety. However, Vaus is trapped in space by an unknown enemy.

Arkanoid is a variant on the block breaker game Breakout from the early 1980s. The player controls a paddle (Vaus) that controls a ball (an energy bolt) that needs to destroy bricks that form the barrier trapping Vaus. Some bricks need to be hit more than once to be destroyed, and others cannot be destroyed at all, and need to be worked around to clear the level.

The angle at which you hit the ball will determine the trajectory of the ball, thus making it possible to control which bricks to hit. However, blocks and enemies will change the path and interrupt your carefully planned shots.

The game can be played with Keyboard, Mouse, or Joystick. We highly recommend using the mouse.

In total, there are 33 levels. In the final level, you have to fight the enemy "DOH", while avoiding the bullets he spits at you. Hit him a sufficient number of times, and you will win the game.

As an improvement on Breakout, Arkanoid has the addition of bonuses and powerups that can drop from the bricks. These are (represented by letters):


[B] - Break - Pink colored - Opens a portal to end the level.
[C] - Catch - Green colored - Sticky panel that allows you to catch the ball, and release it where you want.
[D] - Disrupt - Cyan colored - - Three balls instead of 1.
[E] - Enlarge - Blue colored - Vaus becomes extra-wide.
[L] - Laser - Red colored - Allows you to shoot projectiles at the blocks and enemies.
[P] - Player - Gray colored - Gain an extra life.
[S] - Slow - Gold colored - Slow down the ball.

[ESC] - Pause
[C] - Resume (when paused)
[Q] - Quit (When paused)
